Jesse Strang in 2019

At a shooting on a high school in Tumbler Ridge, Canada, 10 people were shot, as reported at 03:30 in Dutch national media.

There are two suspect names going around, however. For example, on Feb 11, 2026, 7:25 PM IST the Hindustan Times reported the name Jesse Strang. A few hours later, however, the name was suddenly reported as Jesse Van Rootselaar without mention of the previous name.

The description is discussed below.

First, when comparing the person in the video to pictures that were posted by India Today on Feb 12 05:19 IST, it seems likely this is the same person as the one in the video,

The hair has the same curls, the beard hair looks black, and the body type appears to be the same. However, the article by India Today calls this person not Jesse Strang, but Jesse Van Rootselaar.

Other sites show the following youth pictures of Jesse van Rootselaar,

Notice his hair is suddenly completely different. It appears Jesse van Rootselaar is not the same person as Jesse Sprang. Based on the widely spreading pictures of an adult Jesse with red hair, it seems that Jesse Sprang is the most likely real perpetrator.

Back to the video of Jesse Sprang. His YouTube video shows the following text in the description,

Which when translated by a Wingdings Translator reads,

"BLESSED ARE THE DESTROYERS OF FALSE HOPE, FOR THEY ARE THE TRUE MESSIAHS - CURSED ARE THE GOD-ADORERS, FOR THEY SHALL BE SHORN SHEEP"

This is a quote from Anton LaVey's The Satanic Bible.

Satanism of course being about murder. For example, LaVey's book The Secret Life of a Satanist (1990) in Chapter 17 explains various magical incantations that he uses after which people "miraculously" die.

These miracles are put between quotation marks here because of Acts 8:9-13, "But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done."

Now some people might wonder whether Jesse was possessed by devils after seeing and hearing him in de video above. Well, according to the Joy of Satan Wiki, it is possible to summon demons to "accomplish our goals and personal desires." Maybe that's what Jesse Strang was working on.
